RTW "The Gordon Gladwin Tour"

Sick of trying to use our United's frequent flier points, we decided to use them all up in one round the world trip.

A Religious Experience

We spent Chris's birthday dinner in a restaurant called Sa Capella. Built as a church in the 16th-century, it was never actually consecrated as the tools in use to build it mysteriously disappeared, later to be found in another spot. Taken as a sign from God, the church was relocated to the new location. Hmmmm Devine intervention or a rival village seeking a more impressive church???

We sipped Champagne in an intimate loft that looked out over the restaurant with its vaulted limestone archways, wooden beams and iron chandeliers. The staff & the food were amazing! Nicola's fish came encased in a giant mound of salt that was then cracked open at the table. We ordered desert & in a sly move Nicola tipped the waiter off in very poor Spanish (but hey at least she tried) that it was her honey's special day! As if we weren't full enough, a sparkler adorned follow up appeared. A sort of almond crisp with "Happy Birthday" written across it.

Then... they brought the obligatory complementary after dinner drinks. By which time, our intimate loft dinner was "joined" by the large party that ended up seated next to us - Hey new friends!
