Wednesday night at Fafa island resort is Cultural night. The Staff & their families sing, drink copious amounts of Kava & perform an array of traditional South Pacific dances. Their bodies covered in oil, the idea is that you stick small bills to their skin in a show of appreciation. Could be the reason why so much of the local money looks so worked over!
Kay is wearing here what we initially saw at the local market & thought were floor matts or wall hangings. Turns out they were in fact dresses. Just shows you what we know!...
Had a great time - but just a heads up to future Fafa island guests. If you get the flight into Tonga that arrives at 2am - stay in town that night rather than getting the boat transfer over to the resort. It's a long journey & a lot of cash to dish out for what ends up being about a 3 hour stay in your room.
