After dinner, we had an hour or so to kill before the Opera started, so we set off along the marble paved streets of Verona on our very own pre-show tour.
Is it or isn't it? Is this indeed the fabled site of the balcony scene from Romeo & Juliet? There are certainly many who seem to think so... The walls surrounding the portcullis are literally covered in love notes in every language imaginable!

Soooo after our mini tour, we still had a good 45 minutes or so before the main event. We stumbled upon a really cool wine bar/cafe. A huge L-shaped bar filled with quite the assortment of bubbly (much to Nicola's delight) & a dizzying selection of bar snacks. All gratis & not your usual aray

of chips & nuts. No... We're talking a veritable buffet of bruscettas, olives & fondus. Seriously could this evening get any better!??? Now all we needed was yet another repreve from the wrath of the rain gods!
